1st Offense
Minimum of two days jail; Maximum six months jail – This jail time can be converted to Sheriffs Work Project.
Minimum fine = $390; Maximum $1,000 (The fine in Yolo County comes out to around $3100 after penalty assessments are added in. It is the highest fine amount for a 1st Offense DUI in the Sacramento region.)
DUI school – 3/6/9 months – the length is determined by negotiations and the blood alcohol level.
SR-22 DUI insurance
3 years probation
Six month suspension of driver’s license, the first month it is completely suspended, the remaining five months the driver can petition for a restricted license. The restricted license allows for driving to, from and during work, and to and from the DUI school
2nd Offense
Minimum of 4 days in jail; Maximum of one year in jail – Yolo County will generally want at least 10 days on either Electronic Monitoring or Sheriffs Work Project.

DUI school – 18 months or 30 months

3-5 years probation
Ignition interlock device installed in car
Two year suspension of driver’s license, but after 90 days, if the individual installs the ignition interlock device (IID), they become eligible for a restricted license. This restricted license allows you to drive anywhere as long as the vehicle is equipped with an IID.
3rd Offense
Minimum 120 days jail; Maximum one year jail – Yolo County will generally want a significant amount of time in custody.

DUI school – 18 months or 30 months

Possible suspension of drivers license for up to ten years if the court chooses. If the court allows DMV to revoke the license, it will be for three years, and the same rule applies in regards to the IID restriction after 6 months.
